Lady Asta’s Journey To The Wanjalankos

Lady Asta’s Journey to the Wanjalankos: An African Fantasy Rooted in Myth, Magic & Resistance

By Lamin Ceesay

I’m proud to share my newest fantasy novella, Lady Asta’s Journey to the Wanjalankos, now available globally in Kindle and paperback on Amazon. This is one of the most emotionally personal stories I’ve written.
It is deeply rooted in African mythology, Gambian storytelling, and the transformative power of friendship in resisting fear.

The Story

When the dragon Ninki abducts Asta’s best friend Yassin for the ancient Wanjalanko ritual, Lady Asta defies her fate. Alongside Mingo, a gifted man with mystical abilities, she travels through sacred lands to break the cycle of sacrifice.

Will she succeed, or will she become the next offering?

What Makes Lady Asta’s Journey Special?

  • African-rooted fantasy & folklore
  • A powerful female protagonist
  • Themes of  courage, sacrifice, and loyalty
  • A poetic, fast-paced novella (~6,700 words)
  • Ideal for fans of Children of Blood and Bone and The Last Namsara
